Insurance renewal reminder texts: 14 templates for agents

A policy renews in a few weeks and your client has probably forgotten. A short text at the right time keeps the account and lets you catch what changed in their life: a new car, a move, a teenager driving. These fourteen texts cover the early notice, the offer to review, the news that a premium moved, the quiet client, and the thank you after renewing. Nothing here promises a rate or a saving, and each message is for clients who already agreed to hear from you by text. Copy any message, or add all fourteen to your keyboard and send them from iMessage, WhatsApp, SMS or any other app in one tap. textcuts works in any app where you type.

Works in WhatsApp, iMessage, Instagram, Messenger and every other app.

Words in {{double braces}} are blanks. In the textcuts keyboard you fill them with one tap, and the names you used recently come back.

Early notice

Sixty days out

Essential
Hello, your policy renews around {{date}}. Nothing to do yet. I'll send your renewal details when they arrive. Tell me if anything has changed, like a move or a new car.

When to send: About two months before renewal.

Why it works: It gives notice and invites changes before the paperwork lands.

Thirty days out

Essential
Your renewal is coming up on {{date}}. Do you have ten minutes this week for a quick review? I'd like to make sure the cover still fits your life.

When to send: Four to five weeks before renewal.

Why it works: A small ask with a clear reason.

Anything changed

Quick question before renewal, {{name}}: any big changes since last year? New home, new driver, a business on the side. I'll adjust the policy to match.

When to send: Any time in the renewal window.

Why it works: One easy question surfaces the things clients forget to mention.

Booking a review call

Shall we pick a time for the renewal review? I have openings on {{day}}. A call takes about fifteen minutes.

When to send: After they say yes to a review.

Why it works: A named day makes it easy to say yes.

Renewal documents

Renewal documents arrived

Essential
Your renewal papers came in, {{name}}. I'm going through them now and will text you the main points today. Please don't sign anything until we've talked.

When to send: When the carrier sends the renewal offer.

Why it works: It protects them and keeps you in the loop.

Premium went up

Essential
The carrier has changed your premium for the new term. I know that's not welcome news. Let me look at options with you before {{date}} so you can choose with all the facts.

When to send: When the renewal premium rises.

Why it works: It names the bad news plainly and offers help, not excuses.

Premium stayed the same

Good news, {{name}}: your renewal came in with no change to your premium, and your cover stays the same. Nothing to do on your side. Text me if you have questions.

When to send: When the premium is unchanged.

Why it works: Short good news earns attention for the next message.

Coverage change notice

One thing to know, {{name}}: the carrier changed one part of your policy at renewal. I've marked it in your documents. Want me to go through it by phone?

When to send: When terms change in a renewal.

Why it works: It points at what matters instead of burying it.

Sending the renewal link

Here is your renewal summary: {{link}}. Have a look when you can and tell me which part you'd like to go through.

When to send: When you send the documents as a link.

Why it works: One link and one invitation.

Quiet clients

Nudge before renewal

Essential
Checking in once more. Your policy renews on {{date}} and I haven't heard from you. If all is well, a thumbs up is enough.

When to send: One week before, for clients who have not replied.

Why it works: A thumbs up is the easiest reply possible.

Second nudge, closing

Pro
If you're happy with it as it is, {{name}}, there's nothing to do and it renews on {{date}}. If you'd rather talk first, text me and we'll fit it in.

When to send: Two or three days before renewal.

Why it works: It states the plan and keeps their say.

Missed renewal call

Sorry I missed you, {{name}}. I called about your renewal. Text me a good time and I'll ring you back.

When to send: After an unanswered call.

Why it works: It saves them calling back cold.

Renewal confirmed

Essential
Your policy is renewed, {{name}}, and your new documents are in your email. Thank you for staying with me this year.

When to send: Right after renewal is processed.

Why it works: A clear confirmation closes the loop.

Thank you after renewing

It's been a pleasure looking after your cover, {{name}}. If a friend ever asks who to call about insurance, I'd be glad if you passed my number along.

When to send: A week after renewal.

Why it works: A soft mention of referrals, no pressure.

Do not say

  • Texting a number that never agreed to hear from you (a bought list, a number copied from a form for something else, a stranger).

Instead: Text only people who gave you their number and agreed to texts. Honor stop right away.

    Source

  • Telling a client their price will go down before you have seen the renewal.

Instead: Say you will look at the renewal and options once it arrives.

  • Renewing quietly on a higher premium and saying nothing.

Instead: Tell clients about a premium change as soon as you know.

  • Pressure such as "your cover ends tonight, act now".

Instead: Give the real renewal date a few weeks early.

  • A gift or reward for renewing.

Instead: A plain thank you. State rules on inducements vary.

  • Sending a client elsewhere without a full comparison.

Instead: Compare terms, limits and exclusions side by side first.

    Source

  • Long messages full of policy terms.

Instead: One point per text, and offer a call for the rest.

Frequently asked questions

When should I text a client about renewal?

About sixty days out as an early notice, thirty days out to offer a review, and again when the documents arrive. One nudge a week before is enough if you have heard nothing.

Can I text a client who never agreed to be texted?

No. Send these only to people who gave you their number and agreed to hear from you by text. The FCC's guide and 47 CFR 64.1200 explain the consent rules. Start a first message with a line such as "Tell me if you'd rather not get texts," and stop the moment someone says stop. Keep texting for people you already work with, one message at a time, typed by you.

Do these templates work on the free plan?

Yes. All fourteen use a single blank, so they fill in on the free plan.

Can I send these in WhatsApp, iMessage and SMS?

Yes. textcuts is a keyboard, so the templates work in every app where you type, including iMessage, WhatsApp, SMS and Messenger.
