New insurance client welcome texts: 13 templates for the first month

The first month after someone signs decides whether they stay for years. They have documents they do not understand, a payment they might forget and no idea who to call. These thirteen texts welcome them, explain what to expect, point to the right documents, show how to reach you and check in at the right moments. All are short, all are friendly, and none promises more than your policy says. Send them to new clients who agreed to be texted. Copy any message, or add all thirteen to your keyboard and send them from iMessage, WhatsApp, SMS or any other app in one tap. textcuts works in any app where you type.

Works in WhatsApp, iMessage, Instagram, Messenger and every other app.

Words in {{double braces}} are blanks. In the textcuts keyboard you fill them with one tap, and the names you used recently come back.

Do not say

  • Texting a number that never agreed to hear from you (a bought list, a number copied from a form for something else, a stranger).

Instead: Text only people who gave you their number and agreed to texts. Honor stop right away.

    Source

  • A long welcome full of terms.

Instead: Two sentences and where to find you.

  • Promising that every loss is covered.

Instead: Say you will explain what the policy covers and excludes.

  • Selling another policy in the welcome.

    Instead: Wait a few weeks.

  • Sending policy numbers or personal details in a text.

Instead: Send documents by email or a secure link.

  • Disappearing after the sale.

Instead: Check in on day 30 and again at renewal.

  • Sending texts to a number the client gave only for the policy file.

Instead: Ask if they are happy to hear from you by text.

Frequently asked questions

What should I send a new insurance client?

A welcome with your name and number, the documents, what happens next, and a check in at day 7 and day 30. Keep each message short.

Can I text a client who never agreed to be texted?

No. Send these only to people who gave you their number and agreed to hear from you by text. The FCC's guide and 47 CFR 64.1200 explain the consent rules. Start a first message with a line such as "Tell me if you'd rather not get texts," and stop the moment someone says stop. Keep texting for people you already work with, one message at a time, typed by you.

Do these templates work on the free plan?

Yes. Eleven of the thirteen use a single blank, which fills in on the free plan. The "ID cards" and the "Payment set up" use two blanks and need Pro to fill both from the keyboard.

Can I send these in WhatsApp, iMessage and SMS?

Yes. textcuts is a keyboard, so the templates work in every app where you type, including iMessage, WhatsApp, SMS and Messenger.
