Car service reminder texts for the service drive: 13 templates

Your customers bought their car from you, and the service drive is where they decide whether to come back. Good service texts are short, plain and about the car, not about a coupon. These 13 messages cover the due for service nudge, confirming the visit, the day before, a ride question, a delay, the car being ready, extra work the technician found, following up on work they declined and a recall notice. They are for customers who gave you their number and agreed to be contacted about their vehicle. Copy any message, or add all 13 to your keyboard and send them in one tap. It works in any app, including iMessage, WhatsApp and SMS.

Works in WhatsApp, iMessage, Instagram, Messenger and every other app.

Words in {{double braces}} are blanks. In the textcuts keyboard you fill them with one tap, and the names you used recently come back.

Due for service

Due for service

Essential
Hi {{name}}, your car is coming up on its next service. Would you like me to book you in? Tell me a day that suits you and I'll find a slot.

When to send: When the maintenance schedule says it is due.

Why it works: It asks a yes or no question and offers to do the work of booking.

Mileage based

Hello {{name}}, our records show you're close to your next scheduled maintenance. Want to book a time before it's due?

When to send: A few weeks before the mileage mark.

Why it works: It is a heads up, not a demand.

Tire season

Hi {{name}}, the weather is changing soon, which is a good time to check the tires. Want a spot for a quick inspection?

When to send: At the change of seasons.

Why it works: A reason tied to real conditions feels useful, not salesy.

Recall notice

{{name}}, the manufacturer issued a recall notice that covers your car. Recall repairs are normally done at no cost to you. Shall I book you in?

When to send: When your system flags an open recall.

Why it works: It informs plainly and does not frighten.

Appointment

Appointment confirmation

Essential
Your service visit is booked for {{date}}. Please arrive a few minutes early so we can start on time.

When to send: Right after booking.

Why it works: Date, request, done.

Day before

Reminder, {{name}}: your car is booked in with us tomorrow. Please bring the key fob and anything you want the technician to look at.

When to send: The afternoon before.

Why it works: It tells them what to prepare.

Need a ride

{{name}}, if you need a ride while the car is here, tell me before your visit and I'll check what we can arrange.

When to send: At booking or the day before.

Why it works: It does not promise what you may not have, and it raises the question early.

Vehicle ready

Delay

Hi {{name}}, the technician needs a little longer than planned. I'll text you the moment it's done. Sorry for the wait.

When to send: When the work runs over.

Why it works: Bad news early is good service.

Extra work found

Essential
{{name}}, while we were in there the technician found something that needs your attention. I'll send a photo and the written cost before we do anything.

When to send: Before any added work.

Why it works: Photo plus written cost, and nothing happens without their yes.

Vehicle ready

Good news {{name}}, your car is ready for pickup. Please bring your ID to the cashier. The work done is listed on the invoice.

When to send: When the car is finished.

Why it works: It says what to bring and where to go.

Thanks after service

Essential
Thank you for bringing your car in, {{name}}. If anything doesn't feel right in the next few days, text me and I'll sort it out.

When to send: The day after pickup.

Why it works: It invites a problem to come to you instead of to a review site.

Follow up

Declined work

Essential
Hello {{name}}, last visit we noted the brake pads and you decided to wait. How is it feeling? If you'd like to take care of it, I can book a time.

When to send: A month or two after declined work.

Why it works: A question about the car, not a countdown.

Not seen in a while

Essential
Hi {{name}}, we haven't seen your car in a while. No pressure, I just want to make sure it's being looked after. Can I help with a check up?

When to send: After a long gap.

Why it works: Care first, appointment second.

Do not say

  • Texting a number that never agreed to hear from you, or one from a bought list.

Instead: Text only people who gave you their number and agreed to hear from you. Type each message yourself, and stop the moment they ask. In the US, texting rules (TCPA) require consent.

  • Scare language about safety to sell more work ("your brakes could fail any day").

Instead: Describe what the technician saw, send the photo and let them decide.

  • Texting people who bought the car elsewhere and never asked for service reminders.

Instead: Text customers who gave you their number and honor stop requests right away.

  • "Free oil change" or discount claims you cannot honor.

Instead: Only mention offers that are written and current.

  • "Guaranteed financing", "everyone approved" or "no credit needed".

Instead: Say you will review their options together and that approval depends on the lender.

  • Copy pasted pitches that open with "Hey buddy" or ignore what the person told you.

Instead: Start with their name and one detail from your conversation.

  • Fake urgency ("only one left", "another buyer is coming") when it is not true.

Instead: Say what is true: where the car is and what is ready.

  • A price or monthly payment you cannot honor.

Instead: Send the full written figure, with taxes and fees, or invite them in.

Works in WhatsApp, iMessage, Instagram, Messenger and every other app.

Frequently asked questions

How often can I text a customer about service?

Only when there is a reason: due, booked, ready or a recall. One reminder per event is enough.

How do I tell a customer about extra work without sounding pushy?

Send a photo and the written cost, and wait for their answer. The extra work template does that.

Do these work on the free plan?

Yes. All 13 use one blank, so they work fully on the free plan, which allows 8 textcuts, 1 folder and 1 blank per textcut. Add your 8 favorites first.

Is it okay to text customers, and what about opt out?

Text people who gave you their number and agreed to be contacted, one message at a time. Tell new contacts how to stop, for example "tell me if you'd rather not get texts", and honor any stop request right away. Never text bought lists.

Does it work in WhatsApp, iMessage and other apps?

Yes. The textcuts keyboard works in any app where you type: iMessage, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, SMS and email.
