Herbalife follow up messages: 15 templates you can send today

Someone tried a shake at your club, or ordered from you last week, and now the chat is quiet. The follow up is where most customers are kept or lost, and it is also where most distributors get into trouble: one careless line about weight or income can mislead people and push them away. These 15 messages cover the customer side (first order, check ins, reorders, referrals) and the business side (someone asked how you do it) without a single income or health claim. Copy any of them, or add all 15 to your keyboard and send them from iMessage, WhatsApp, Instagram or any other app in one tap.

Works in WhatsApp, iMessage, Instagram, Messenger and every other app.

Words in {{double braces}} are blanks. In the textcuts keyboard you fill them with one tap, and the names you used recently come back.

After a first order

Same day thank you

Essential
Hi {{name}}, thank you for your order today! I'll let you know the moment it's on its way. If you have any question about how to use anything, just reply here, that's what I'm for.

When to send: The same day as the order.

Why it works: It sets you up as the person to ask, not the person who sells.

Day 3: how is it going

Essential
Hi {{name}}, quick check in: how are you finding the shake so far? Some people love it with milk, others with water and ice. Tell me how you're having it and I'll share what my other customers do.

When to send: Two to three days after delivery.

Why it works: It asks about use, which is easy to answer, and promises something useful back.

Day 7: a recipe idea

Hi {{name}}, a week in! If the same flavor is getting a bit boring, try blending it with half a banana and a spoon of peanut butter. Want me to send you three more ideas my customers like?

When to send: About a week after delivery.

Why it works: It adds value without asking for anything, and ends with a yes or no question.

A question you need to check

Good question, {{name}}. I don't want to guess on that one, so I'll check the label and the official product information and get back to you today. If it's about a health condition, a medication, pregnancy or an allergy, please also ask your doctor, they know your situation best.

When to send: Whenever a customer asks about ingredients, allergies, pregnancy or medication.

Why it works: It protects the customer and you, and builds trust faster than any claim.

Reorders

Running low reminder

Essential
Hi {{name}}, by my count your canister is probably getting low around now. Would you like me to put in your next order this week so you don't run out? Same as last time, or want to try a different flavor?

When to send: About 3 to 4 weeks after the first order, depending on the product size.

Why it works: It is a service reminder, and the flavor question makes the reply easy.

Gentle reorder nudge

Hi {{name}}, no worries if you're still stocked up! Just let me know when you need more and I'll take care of it.

When to send: 3 to 4 days after the running low reminder, once, if there was no reply.

Why it works: It removes pressure and leaves the next step with them.

When they went quiet

After a tasting, no order

Hi {{name}}, it was really nice talking with you on Saturday. No pressure at all on anything. If you'd like to try a single shake again before deciding, you're welcome back at the club any morning this week.

When to send: One or two days after the visit.

Why it works: It offers a small, low risk next step instead of a package.

Second follow up, still no reply

Essential
Hi {{name}}, I know life gets busy, so I'll keep it short. Is this something you'd still like to hear about, or should I stop following up? Either answer is completely fine.

When to send: About a week after the last unanswered message.

Why it works: A clear way out gets more honest replies than another pitch.

Closing the loop

Hi {{name}}, I'll stop messaging about this so I don't crowd your inbox. If you ever want to pick it up again, I'm one message away. Wishing you a great week!

When to send: After two unanswered follow ups. Then stop.

Why it works: Leaving warmly keeps the relationship, and people do come back.

The business question

Someone asked how you do it

Hi {{name}}, thanks for asking! I'm an independent Herbalife distributor. Results are different for everyone and there are no guarantees, so I won't make promises. Herbalife publishes what typical distributors earn each year, and I can send you the link. Want to grab a coffee this week?

When to send: When someone asks about the business.

Why it works: It is honest about results and points to Herbalife's published figures instead of your own claims.

After an opportunity presentation

Hi {{name}}, thanks for coming last night. What stood out to you, and what questions are still open? There's no rush to decide anything, and being a customer only is a perfectly good option too.

When to send: The morning after.

Why it works: Open questions show you listened, and "customer only" lowers the pressure.

Is this a pyramid scheme?

Fair question, {{name}}. Herbalife is a direct selling company. It says nobody earns just for signing people up, commissions come from product sales, and it publishes what typical distributors earn. It isn't right for everyone, and you can buy the products without joining. Ask me anything, I'll answer straight.

When to send: When someone asks directly.

Why it works: It answers with what Herbalife itself publishes and leaves the judgment to them.

Referrals, events and staying in touch

Asking a happy customer for a referral

Essential
Hi {{name}}, it's been great having you as a customer! If you know someone who might enjoy trying a shake, I'd be happy to give them a free one at the club. Only if it feels right, no pressure at all.

When to send: After they have reordered at least once.

Why it works: It asks for an introduction, not a sale, and only after trust exists.

Club event invitation

Pro
Hi {{name}}, we're doing a free morning workout and shake bar at the club on {{day}} at 8. Bring a friend if you like! Should I save you a spot?

When to send: 3 to 5 days before the event.

Why it works: A specific day and time, and a yes or no question.

Birthday or just checking in

Essential
Happy birthday, {{name}}! Hope you have a wonderful day and a great year ahead. No business today, just wanted to say it.

When to send: On their birthday, or any time you have not talked in a while.

Why it works: Relationships are built on messages that ask for nothing.

Do not say

  • Any income figure or lifestyle promise ("replace your salary", "financial freedom", "I made X this month"). In 2026 the Direct Selling Self Regulatory Council reviewed Herbalife salesforce posts promising "financial freedom", and Herbalife had almost all of them removed or changed.

Instead: There are no guarantees. Here is what Herbalife publishes: U.S. statement of typical distributor earnings.

    Source

  • Any disease or treatment claim ("helps with diabetes", "cures bloating", "lowers blood pressure"). Health claims need scientific evidence, and one customer's story is never enough.

Instead: Please ask your doctor about that.

    Source

  • Specific weight results ("lose 10 pounds in a month"), for you or others.

Instead: Talk about how you use the product, and leave out numbers.

    Source

  • "Detox" or "cleanse" language that implies a medical effect.

Instead: Describe the flavor, how you prepare it and when you have it.

  • Fake urgency ("only 2 spots left", "price goes up tonight") when it is not true.

Instead: Give the real date and time of the real event, and nothing more.

  • "Hey hun" openers and copy pasted pitches to people you have not spoken to in years.

Instead: Start with their name and one real detail from your last conversation.

  • Pressure after a no.

Instead: Two follow ups, then the closing message, then stop.

  • Herbalife logos or "official" wording that suggests you speak for the company.

Instead: Say you are an independent distributor, as in the message about how you do it.

Works in WhatsApp, iMessage, Instagram, Messenger and every other app.

Frequently asked questions

How often should I follow up with a Herbalife customer?

Day 1, about day 3, about a week in, and a reorder reminder at three to four weeks. If someone does not reply, follow up twice at most and then close the loop.

Can I say how much weight I lost?

Leave the number out. The FTC's health products guidance says testimonials that report results more dramatic than people can generally expect are likely to be deceptive, and a "results not typical" line does not fix that. Talk about how you use the product, and check Herbalife's current distributor policies before sharing any personal result.

What do I say when someone asks if Herbalife is a pyramid scheme?

Answer plainly and do not argue. Herbalife's U.S. statement of typical distributor earnings says no one earns money only by recruiting, and in its 2016 settlement with the FTC Herbalife agreed to tie rewards in its U.S. business to verified retail sales. Whether a company is a pyramid scheme is a legal question about how it works in practice, so share the sources and let them decide. They can also be a customer without joining. The message "Is this a pyramid scheme?" on this page does this.

Can I send these on WhatsApp and Instagram?

Yes. textcuts is a keyboard, so the templates work in every app where you type.

Do these templates work on the free plan?

Yes. 14 of the 15 use a single blank, which fills in on the free plan. The club event invitation uses two blanks and needs Pro to fill both from the keyboard.
